Regulations & Orders

In order to facilitate Thailand’s implementation, in national and international levels, of conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, the Prime Minister issued the Office of the Prime Minister’s regulation on conservation and use of biodiversity in 2000. According to the regulation, the committee on conservation and use of biodiversity has been appointed to provide domestic and international mechanisms to undertake biodiversity and other CBD-related activities in Thailand.

After Thailand becoming a Contracting Party to the CBD in 2004, under the Office of the Prime Minister’s regulation, the subcommittee on the Convention on Biological Diversity and subcommittee on the Cartagana Protocol on Biosafety have been appointed in 2006 to supervise implementation of activities concerning biodiversity and biosafety.

To expedite the implementation of activities in compliance with the obligations of the convention and the protocol, in 2006, three working groups have been established: 1) working group on alien species, 2) working group on access and benefit sharing and 3) working group on biosafety clearing-house.
